The iPhone goes VoIP with Line2 App

There was a time when, depending on your job, you might have to carry two or three cell phones. Line2 for the iPhone, created by Talktumi, takes situations like this and streamlines them into one iPhone. The Line2 App can also turn your iPod Touch into a VoIP cell phone where ever there is WiFi. Google Voice and Skype have tried to be iPhone Apps, but Line2 is the app that may just be successful. The best part is, Line2 costs only $15 a month – so you won’t have to look into small cash loans to double your phone’s functionality. The problem for Line2 is going to be keeping the momentum up. After displaying at the CTIA conference, the Line2 App from Talktumi shot to No. 1 in the iPhone app store. Friday morning, Talktumi faced a denial of service attack and had to place the App offline.

Data networks doubled with Line2 App

WiFi and 3G networks can carry cell phone calls, and the Line2 App allows users to access this functionality. If you travel between 3G and wireless networks, Line2 will seamlessly switch between the two.

Line2 allows users to make and receive calls without using cell network minutes. The Line2 system also makes international long-distance calls much less expensively. At $15 a month and $1 for the Line2 App, it’s cell phone service that doesn’t necessitate payday lending to pay the bills.

Line2 App does more than make calls

More than just redirecting your calls through an internet connection, Line2 provides extra functionality. Instead, Line2 is a fully-functioning second phone line. You can set up an additional cell phone number with Line2, routing a home and business number to the very same phone. You can also set up a virtual phone tree – press 1 to reach A, press 2 to reach B, if you’re a business owner trying to keep things in line. Line2 also provides conference calling, visual voicemail, and a choice of how to take incoming calls. Put simply, Line2 puts a second iPhone on your iPhone.

Coordinated DNS attacks on Line2

On March 25, Line2 rose to the No. 1 spot in the iPhone app store. When Line2 got approved by the iPhone app store, a lot of were surprised – Apple had rejected Google voice for having the capacity to compete with the iPhone “core business”.

If you’re looking for the Line2 App on March 26, you can be disappointed. At 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, Talktumi was forced to take Line2 offline because of a coordinated DNS Denial of Service attack. You can get updates on the status of Line2 on the official Talktumi Twitter account.
